Zunka is maharashtrian dish loved by every marathi person .
You can say its one type of easiest besan curry .
I remember my mother cooks patal zunka when she is tired of cooking
and
does not get answer of world's most difficult question WHAT SHOULD I COOK NOW ? 😄😄
Pithal is somewhat similar to Zunka but its yellow in color. We don't add red chilly powder in Pithal .
In zunka we add red chilly powder, so its red in color .
Zunka can be like curry or can be like dry sabzi depending on its cooking type and consistency .
Here I am sharing recipe of curry type Zunka that I usually eat with steamed rice .
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup besan (gram flour )
1/ 2 tsp cumin seeds
1 small onion chopped
oil for tempering
4 curry leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilly powder
salt to taste
1 cup water
1 tsp homemade ghee
METHOD
1. Heat 2 tsp oil for tempering. Add cumin seeds. let them pop.
2. Add chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute till onion becomes transparent .
3. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder . Saute well.
4. Add 1 tsp red chilly powder and salt to taste.
5. Let this mixture boil for 2 minutes.
6. Add 1/2 cup besan.
7. Mix well. There should not remain any besan lump in zunka. Mix well .
8. Let it cook for 1 more minute .
9. Easiest zunka ready to serve .
10. Serve it with steamed rice or roti.
