It's baked ... Not oil fried !
For people who prefer law calories but tasty snacks
Enjoy oil free, oven baked chakali !
INGREDIENTS
2 cup chakali bhajani
(It's lentils, wheat, rice mixed flour in proper proportion)
2 spoons all purpose flour
2 tsp red chilly
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 tsp roasted carom seeds
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 cup very hot oil
METHOD:
1. Mix all ingredients instead above except very hot oil.
2. Mix all dry ingredients together.
3. Add 1/4 cup very hot oil . It's starts bubbling up.
4. Mix it together with spoon.
5. Now mix it with hand in such a way that no flour lumps should be formed in Chakali flour.
6. Add warm water as needed. Make a dough of it.
7. Cover it with wet cloth.
Keep it aside for 30 minutes.
8. Take a small portion of dough.
Roll it in cylindrical shape .
9.Apply homemade fresh butter on it from all sides.
10. It will help to make chakali crispy.
11. Take a chakali maker . Make sure it's completely dry
12. Apply oil it it's inner surface.
13. Press cylinderical shaped dough inside chakali maker.
14. Roll chakalis on small paper aluminium foil sheet.
15. Preheat oven for 10 minutes for 200°C
16. Keep chakali sheet in oven for baking.
17. Bake it for 15 min with temp 200 °C
18. Flip them to other side and back for 10 more minutes or till they become golden brown.
19. Healthy, oil free, baked Chakali are ready to serve.
