Okra / Bhindi masala is main course vegetarian dish that to eat with roti or rice
Restaurant style Okra / Bhindi masala recipe with step by step photos for you.
Ingredients :
250 grms Okra/ lady finger washed
4-5 spoons oil
1 onion chopped
1 spoon red chilly powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/2 cup thick yogurt
1 spoon grated ground nuts powder
Chopped coriander for garnishing
1 spoon lemon juice
Method :
1. Take washed Okra . Clean it nicely with dry cloth. There should not any water remain in skin of Okra or this dish becomes sticky .
2. Remove upper and lower part of Okra .Cut them into half. Make a vertical cut on Okra just to check they are good from inside too.
3. Roast them on heated pan till it turns slight brown and non sticky. Add 1 spoon lemon juice while roasting. It will make Okra non sticky.
4. Once roasted, take them out of pan. Keep them aside to cool down .
5. In a cooking pot, heat oil for tampering.
6. Add chopped onion. Saute it till become transparant.
7.Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder. Saute well.
8. Add 1/2 cup thick yogurt. Mix well. Add 1/2 cup water to make this gravy thinner. Let it cook for just few seconds.
9. Add ground nuts powder. Mix well . It gives nice taste and thickness to your gravy.
10. Add roasted Bhindi / Okra and mix well
. Adjust gravy thickness as you want.
11. Add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well
12. Restaurant style Okra / Bhindi masala ready to serve.
Serve it hot with roti or rice.
