GREEN PEAS MASALA

Green peas masala is popular north Indian recipe made with green peas and tomato, onion gravy.

Ingredients

1 cup green peas fresh / frozen
1 spoon butter
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp red chilly powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
Oil for tampering
1 tsp cumin seeds

For gravy
1 big onion
1 medium size tomato
4-5 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
1 green cardamom
6-7 cashew nuts


Method :

1. Soak cashew nuts in warm water for 15 minutes.
2. Take 1 big onion,1 medium size tomato, 4-5 garlic cloves,1 inch ginger ,1 green cardamom.
3. Put it in grinder together. Add soaked cashew nuts.
 Make its fine paste. Add water as needed.
4. In a cooking bowl, add oil for tampering.
5. When it becomes hot, add 1 tsp cumin seeds. Let the pop.
6. Add onion tomato paste from your grinder pot.
7. Saute well it it fragrant. Tomatoes raw smell shout go .
8. Add salt to taste, 1 tsp garam masala and 1 spoon red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and sugar .



9. Saute well till red chilly powder cooks well with this paste.
10. Add 1/2 cup water or as needed for gravy consistency of your choice.
11. Add 1 spoons butter.
12. Saute well  for 2 minutes.


13. Add green pease to this spice mixture .
Here I used frozen green peas. If you are using for green peas then boil them in a water for about 20 minutes. They will become soft as we need for this recipe.


14. Mix well . Add  water to get gravy consistency of your choice.
15. Let this cook on low flame for 2-3 more minutes.

16. Your green peas masala is ready to serve.
It tastes awesome when you serve this with roti , naan or Jeera rice.
