Japanese cheesecake is soft, spongy cheese cake originated in Japan . It is less sweet as compared to regular cakes.
Sharing perfect recipe for Japanese cheesecake with step by step photos.
Ingredients:
200g fresh soften cheese
150g all purpose flour ( about 1 small cup)
1 spoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup room temperature butter
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup luckwarm milk
2 spoons orage/ lemon zest
1 egg
1 cup powdered sugar
For decoration:
1/2 bowl strawberry jam
Powdered sugar
Coloured eatable balls
Recipe:
1. Preheat oven to 150 degree temperature for 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl add softened fresh cheese. If your cheese was in fridge , surround it with hot water to make it soft.
3. Whisk in well with spoon.
4. Add all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder and mix well . It will form sticky batter.
5. Take a large bowl of hand mixer or electronic mixer. Add egg, room temperature butter and sugar together. Mix it well till it become fluffy and soft.
6. Add this fluffy mixture in cheese and all purpose flour mixture.
7. Stir it well till it becomes fluffy.
8 . Add lemon juice and zest .
9. Add warm milk and vegetable oil.
10. Stir it till become soft and fluffy.
11. Take medium size cake pan .
12. Spread room temperature butter layer at its bottom. If you have butter paper, use it instead.
13. Pour cake mixture in cake pan . Tap pan twice to remove air bubbles.
14.Keep cake pan on oven tray.
15. Pour water in a tray in such a way that your cake pan base should dip into it. Make sure that water is not too much to go in cake pan.
16. Place oven tray with cake pan in oven.
17. Bake it at 180C for 20 minutes. This cake takes less time to bake.
This steam baking procedure makes cake soft and nice .
18. To make sure that cake is baked completely, just push a toothpick or cake taster inside cake at its centre. It should come out clean with no sticky cake mixture on it.
19. Take completely backed cake out of oven. Let it cool down completely for at least 20 minutes.
20. Shift this cake from cake pan to stand / large plate.
21.Make a thin , uniform layer of strawberry jam on it.
22. Keep your favourite shaped cake stencil on it and spread powdered sugar around it . Stencil shape will look red ( it's jam uncovered with sugar)
23. Decorate with colourful balls.
