Jowar flour chakali / Sorghum flour chakali

Chakali is Maharashtrian saveory snacks often makes on occasion of Diwali festival. 

It has so many variations depending on with which flour it it made. 

Here I am sharing you jowar/sorghum flour chakali. 

It is crispy, spicy and mouth watering snacks.


Ingredients :

1 cup jowar / sorghum flour
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt
1/2 tsp roasted Carom seeds
1/2 roasted cumin seeds
1 spoon Sesame seeds
3 spoons hot oil
Asafoetida
2 tsp red chilli powder
Warm water
Oil for frying
4-5 spoons fresh homemade butter


Recipe :

1. Add all dry ingredients together.
2. Add very hot / boiled oil . Mix it well. Make sure there are no flour lumps.

 3. Using warm water, knee semisoft dough.
4. Cover it will wet clothe. Meet aside for 30 min.


 5. Take a small portion of dough.
Roll it in cylindrical shape .

6. Apply homemade fresh butter on it from all sides.
7. It will help to make chakali crispy.


8. Take a chakali maker . Make sure it's completely dry
9. Apply oil it it's inner surface.
10. Press cylinderical shaped dough inside chakali maker.
11. Roll chakalis on small paper sheet / aluminium foil sheet.


12.Take a frying pan. Heat oil in it on high flame.
13. Carefully put chakali in heated oil. It will start bubbling.


14. Turn it to other side when it reduces bubbling.


15. Deep fry chakali from both sides on medium flame.
Chakali  automatically settles down in frying pan when roasted nicely.

14. Don't fry on high flame. Chakali becomes soft after cooling.

15. Keep on paper towel to remove excess oil.


16. After cooling, keep in air tight container.
