TOMATO SAAR | MAHARASHTRIAN TOMATO CURRY IN 10 MINURES | EASY AND FAST

Tomato Saar is curry made with fresh tomatoes tempered in garlic and cumin seeds .

It's finger licking tangy spicy taste matches nicely with steamed rice and papad .

Sharing here very simple , easy and less time consuming recipe with step by step photos.






Ingredients :

3-4 big sized fresh, ripped tomatoes
Salt for taste
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 spoon Coconut powder (optional)

For tempering :
1 spoon oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 garlic cloves
2 curry leaves


PREPARATION 

1. Wash tomatoes and cook it in pressure cooker with 3 whistles.

2. Once it is cool , peel them . 

3. Grind them to fine paste .

Method :

1. Heat oil for tampering.

2. Add cumin seeds, chopped garlic cloves and curry leaves.
You can use mustard seeds too if you like.

3. Add 1/4 tsp asafoetida .Mix well. This ingredient is optional . 

4. Add tomato paste.  Cover it with lid to save its tempering smell .

5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Saute well for 1 minute.

6. Add warm water adjust its consistency.

7 . Let it boil on high flame for 1/2 minute .

8. Cover with lid and let it cook on low flame for  3 to 4 minutes more.

9. Tomato saar is ready.


10. Serve this tasty, spicy tomato Saar with steamed white rice



Note :

If you want Tomato Saar thicker , add 1 spoon Coconut powder and cook well
