MAHARASHTRIAN PITHALE


I know Pithale is really simple recipe. But many of my blog readers asked foor authentic Kolhapuri Pithale recipe . 
Happy to share this with you.

INGREDIENTS

4-5 spoons oil for tempering
1 chopped onion
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 curry leaves
2 spicy green chilies
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/4 tsp asefotida
salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar/ Jaggery powder
1 bowl warm water
1/2 bowl gram flour (besan)
2 spoons chopped coriander

PREPARATION

1. Heat oil for tempering.
2. Add cumin seeds . Let them pop.
3. Add chopped onion, curry leaves.  
4. Saute till onion turns golden brown.
5. Add chopped chili, asefotida  and ginger garlic paste. Saute well.
6. Add 1 bowl warm water.
7. Let it come to boil.
8. Add 1/2 gram flour. 
9. Mix it nicely. Make sure no lumps of gram flour formed in it. Add chopped coriander.
10. Cover it with lid.
11. Let it cook for 2 more minutes on medium flame.
12. Serve it hot with Indian Bread Chapati or with steamed rice.
13. It becomes tight as cooks down.
