I always love to eat home made thick curd instead of ready made flavored , different types of curds from market .
It may be because I have grown up in Kolhapur enjoying fresh milk and homemade curd. I have seen my mom enjoying while making it .
It contains good bacteria which busts your immunity . A bowl of fresh , thick , homemade curd
(yogurt) is bundle of vitamins.
Sharing here easy recipe of making curd at home !
INGREDIENTS :
1/2 liter milk
2 spoons homemade curd
OR
2 spoons fresh lemon juice
METHOD :
1. Take 1/2 liter milk in a thick bottom cooking pot .
You can use any percentage fat milk . Here I used 1.5 % fat milk.
2. Bring a milk to boil. It took me 6-7 minutes.
3. Pour it in a pot you want to set a curd.
You can use clay pot , glass pot or a steel container.
4. Let this boiled milk cool down till it becomes lukewarm. You must keep it in room temperature till it becomes cool. Don't put it in fridge.
5. Add 2 spoons fresh lemon juice or homemade curd if available at your home.
6. Mix it with spoon smoothly . Try to stir in one direction only.
7. Keep this pot in warm place without disturbing for 7-8 hours.
When I was in India , I saw my mother making it in just 4 hours. In summer , it takes only 4 hours to set a curd.
If you are living in cool areas, you can use your oven .
I usually keep it in oven with light on.
8. Once your curd is ready , shift your curd lot in a fridge.
It makes curd thicker.
